88vocoeast (forum)
Another song based on the same tuning of the previous one (88 east) featuring the technique of microtonal vocoding using a Nord Modular G2 and LMSO (already introduced with Wyshnegradsky's neutral)

88east (forum)
A song written using a heptatonic mode of 88cET: a non octave scale based on the division of a perfect fifth (3/2) into 8 steps of 88 cents each. This scale has a pseudo octave 1228 cents wide. The seven steps of the scale have been mapped to the seven white keys of my master keyboard. The only sound source is Cameleon 5000 by Camel Audio

Wyshnegradsky's neutral (forum)
This is a short example of microtonal vocoding using a Nord Modular G2 and LMSO. The scale is Wyshnegradsky's neutral, a heptatonic one repeating at the octave with the following cents from tonic: 0, 200, 350, 500, 700, 850, 1050, 1200

Alphablues (forum)
A little exercise based on the Carlos Alpha scale: a perfect fifth (3/2) divided into 9 equal parts of 77.995 cents each

GamelanX (forum)
This is a "song" using a "gamelan luang, banjar Sèséh" scale, a pelog tuning from Bali used by Krawang ensembles. Thanks to X.J.Scott to whom this piece is dedicated (see the final X at the end of the title)

Maqam Bayati (JI) (forum)

Septimal Klezmer (forum)
This piece is my first attempt at writing a song using a "non octave" tuning and I think I succeeded in giving it a sense. I will never praise X.J. Scott enough for his LMSO. The scale is called "Septimal Heaven" labeled by Jeff as "entrancing meditative nonoctave"

Summer 2006 in 11 limit (forum)
This piece started as a microtonal study on the same scale used for Piano11 but on Metasynth 4. The sound I came up with reminded me of cicadas I had heard during the summer on the beach here in Italy, so I mixed it with field recordings I had done during vacation featuring my son Jarik

AlgoXenoJazz (forum)
Well...what you hear here is an experiment involving midi data being generated by M, sent to LMSO that retune them, then forwarded to Reason that plays them and finally recorded on Logic Pro thru Soundflower (no ReWire). All in real time! The scale used is "septimal heaven" I already used for my other piece "Septimal Klezmer" but the outcome is very different. See also the movie (a short video of myself improvising with M-LMSO-Reason using the same settings of the song)

Instant Gamelan (forum)
This is a short example of a max/msp patch I built to create scales that divide any interval in any number of equal steps and that, at the same time, creates a timbre with consonant partials (somehow proportional to the steps of the scale it is playing). I use additive synthesis with only 8 partials. this example was created dividing a 12th (an octave, 1200 cents, + a perfect fifth, 701.955 cents) into 12 steps (1901.955 cents/12=158.49 cents each step)

Metashakti (forum)
This piece was composed using Metasynth 4 and Absynth2. both retuned with LMSO to a scale built dividing a perfect fifth (3/2 or 701.955 cents)) into 6 equal parts (steps of 116.99 cents each). that's a nonoctave scale

Dorian Schlesinger (forum)
This is an experiment on a scale I derived from a 13-limit extended tonality diamond, based on the studies, by Kathleen Schlesinger on the tuning systems used in ancient Greece

Repetitions1 (forum)
The tuning of this piece is based on steps of 175.489 cents each, dividing a just perfect fifth (3/2) into 4 equal steps. It is a non octave scale. The mood is repetitious and exotic. See also the movie. This video is also featured on the Propellerhead YouTube channel on the Playlist: Made with Reason
